What to include when posting an electrical job
Electrical faults are difficult to diagnose from a short description, but a careful job post still helps an electrician understand the property, the symptoms and the likely urgency. The aim is not to diagnose the fault yourself. It is to report what happened, what equipment is affected and whether the circuit is currently isolated.

Describe the symptom, not a guessed solution

- State whether the issue began after building work, a leak, a storm or a new appliance installation.
- Explain whether the affected circuit is switched off now.
Do not repeatedly reset a breaker, remove a consumer-unit cover or test exposed wiring. If there is smoke, fire or an immediate danger, leave the area and contact the emergency services rather than waiting for marketplace replies.
Include property and installation details
State whether the property is a house or apartment, its approximate age, and whether the electrical installation has been upgraded recently. Use photographs safely
